Teaching is the most important part of academic work for me. It allows me to learn with students, create community, and tear down harmful mythologies and power relations. Whether on Zoom or in person, teaching invigorates me and challenges me so usefully.
My teaching is also inextricable from my research. The conversations students and I have in the classroom inform and enrich the work that I do.
I’ve written a bit about teaching, too, as part of a series on Visible Pedagogy with the Grad Center’s Teaching and Learning Center: “Teaching with Feeling,” “Teaching with the Body,” and “Discovering Your Teaching Persona.”
And if you hover over the Teaching menu item, you can see some of the course sites I’ve developed over the years as instructor of record at a variety of NYC liberal arts and technology institutions!
